Mental Health Clinician - Perinatal
- Te Kuuwaha o te Waiora, 135C Silverdale Road, Hamilton
- Fixed term until January 2027 - part time – 64 hours per fortnight (Monday to Friday during office hours - configuration of days and hours is negotiable)

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Community Mental Health clinician to join our Perinatal Mental Health team based at Te Kuuwaha o te Waiora.
You will be working with an established, supportive team of mental health clinicians with a wide range of experience and backgrounds and will be given the chance to develop professionally through a thorough orientation programme.
Perinatal Mental health is a team of experienced, specialised health professionals skilled in helping mothers with mental health conditions related to having a baby. Our team offers assessment, treatment consultation and advice for women who have developed a mental illness during the perinatal period.
We take a holistic approach, working with both expectant mums and those with infants in their first year of life, together with their partners, family / whanau and services and health providers involved in their care.
Key responsibilities:
- Organise prioritise and manage a caseload including documentation associated with this.
- To be committed to understanding the needs of the communities that we work in and building networks within them.
- To have sound decision making skills especially in high pressure situations.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Practice with a tangata whaiora and whanau centred approach and be a strong advocate for best practice.

About the Team/Service
Based in Hamilton, our multi-disciplinary team provide a community-based secondary mental health service across the Waikato to tangata whaiora who experience moderate to severe mental health-related challenges during pregnancy and the post-partum period. We are committed to making a difference with tangata whaiora and their whaanau through working in partnership to create kotahitanga. You will be part of a team that aims to provide a supportive environment including supervision, mentoring and professional development.

About you
- Hold a valid current annual practicing that enables you to work in Mental Health.
- A current full NZ drivers licence.
- Passionate about working with tangata whai ora and whanau, and have mental health experience.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly with tangata whaiora and whanau.
- Strong documentation and time management skills.
- A commitment to culturally safe practice and Te Tiriti of Waitangi Principles.
