About the Role

We are seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join our great team as Mental Health Auxiliary Workers in the Tumanako Inpatient & He Manu Pae Sub-Acute units. You will support a patients recovery by fostering the development of skills to function independently on discharge and provide a supportive ward environment for patients.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Tumanako is a 29-bed purpose-built unit, situated on the Whangārei hospital campus, that cares for adults over the age of 18 who live in the Northland area. We have a multidisciplinary team who work closely together to create a supportive and recovery focussed environment for our tangata whai ora. We are also committed to quality improvement, staff wellbeing and working collaboratively across services.

About you

Our people need carers who are compassionate, have a positive outlook and who work in a culturally safe manner.

You will have a genuine interest in caring for people with acute mental health needs, have excellent interpersonal skills and can work as part of a multidisciplinary team. Experience is preferred though not essential as full training will be given.
