About the Role

Due to a promotion in the department we have a fixed term vacancy for an experienced Medical Laboratory Technician to join our laboratory team. This is a 1.0 FTE full time role working 40 hours per week. This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic individual looking to progress their career with experience in a tertiary hospital laboratory setting.

About the Team/Service

Our team of pathologists, scientists and technicians are supported by a modern, well equipped histology and cytology laboratory. We have access to a wide range of diagnostic stains and techniques. The Waikato Hospital Anatomical Pathology Laboratory processes over 20,000 surgical cases and over 2000 cytology cases per year.

 

About you

Skills and experience you’ll need to be considered for the role:

  • The successful candidate must be eligible for registration with the Medical Sciences Council and hold a current practicing certificate before commencement in the role
  • A team focus with good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail with a focus on quality
  • Able to work independently and prioritise workload effectively
  • Understanding of and commitment to process and continuous improvement
  • Previous experience in a Medical Laboratory will be an advantage
