About the Role

We are inviting expressions of interest from experienced Medical Laboratory Scientists who are interested in progressing their career. The Specialist Chemical Pathology department encompasses Special Biochemistry, Endocrinology, Trace Metals and Chromatography and provides laboratory services for 3 national programmes (Bowel Screening, Newborn Screening and Antenatal Screening). 

This position is full time working rostered shifts Monday to Sunday. The role is based primarily in the Chromatography and Special Biochemistry areas but there may also be a requirement to work in other sections of the department.

Applicants must be able to showcase their practical experience using a range of manual, semi-automated and fully automated methods and specialised techniques. Key personal skills we are looking for in candidates are those who (a) are adept at task-switching (b) can remain focussed on task(s) when under pressure and (c) are comfortable in a work environment that can demand high flexibility.

LabPLUS is an IANZ accredited medical laboratory and is one of New Zealand's premier laboratories. LabPLUS are part of the state-owned Te Toka Tumai Auckland. We offer a comprehensive pathology service for Auckland City Hospital, Starship Children’s Hospital, National Women's Health, and the Greenlane Clinical Centre. About you

As the ideal person for this role, you will have the following skills and attributes:

  • NZ Registered Medical Laboratory Scientist with a current Annual Practicing Certificate
  • You should have formal qualification in the subject of chemical pathology.
  • Recent practical experience within the speciality is required
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
  • An attention to detail with a strong focus on quality and accuracy together with a can-do attitude to work in a fast-paced and busy environment
  • Excellent organisational and computer skills
  • Flexibility with working hours
