Kitchen Assistant
- Hawke’s Bay Fallen Soldier’s Hospital, Nutrition & Food Service
- Permanent, Part-time 24 hours per fortnight (0.3 FTE)
- Work rostered, rotating shifts of 3 hours during the evening period (4:45 PM - 7:45 PM)

About the Role
As a Kitchen Assistant, you’ll be part of a dedicated team preparing and serving meals that meet patients’ dietary needs and preferences. You’ll ensure meals are accurate, well-presented, and delivered on time, while maintaining high standards of hygiene and food safety. This role also involves cleaning kitchen areas and equipment, monitoring food temperatures, and supporting a positive team culture.
You’ll need to be physically capable of meeting the demands of the role, including lifting up to 10kg, standing and walking for rostered shifts, and being able to squat and kneel when required.

About you
As a Kitchen Assistant, you will bring:
- Experience in food service (desirable) and a strong understanding of hygiene and safety practices.
- Effective communication skills and a positive, problem-solving attitude.
- Physical capability to lift up to 10kg, stand/walk for shifts, and squat/kneel as needed.
- A commitment to teamwork, customer service, and culturally safe practice.
- A food hygiene certificate or relevant qualification (advantageous).
