About the Role

We are expanding our Maternal Mental Health Service which sits under the banner of Te ara Manapou, alongside our Pregnancy and Parenting Addiction Service. Te Ara Manapou means ‘the pathway of sustenance’ Te Ara is a pathway and Manapou is a way of sustaining and supporting life. The emphasis here is twofold - the pathway of sustenance and journey of wellbeing. It relates both to parenting and support.

 

Due to growth of the service, Maternal Mental Health is looking for a Kaiāwhina.The newly appointed kaiāwhina will be joining a well-established and vibrant multi-disciplinary Maternal Mental Health team.We can offer flexibility in the role and would be open to discussing days and hours to suit, let’s work together to find an option that suits you and the whanau we support.

 

As a kaiāwhina you will play a pivotal role in supporting our kaimahi and the whānau we service.

  • Providing day-to-day support to māmā, pēpi and their whānau in a culturally responsive and mana-enhancing way
  • Assisting in the delivery of programmes and services
  • Supporting the development and maintenance of whanaungatanga within the community

 

About the Team/Service/ Location

Maternal Mental Health is committed to finding creative ways of providing timely, locally delivered, high quality and effective interventions that maximise wellbeing for both Māma, pēpi and their whānau.

 

The successful applicant will join a small supportive and experienced team who provide mental health assessment and interventions for women antenatally and postnatally up to one year. The Maternal Mental Health Team sits alongside and is supported by Te Ara Manapou, a pregnancy and parenting service that works with whanau with addictions.

 

Key attributes for applicants are a passion for positive mental health promotion and improving outcomes for people experiencing issues with their mental health. Supporting parents and whānau to provide responsive and safe care for their infants and children is a priority. Being innovative with an enthusiastic and positive attitude alongside excellent clinical skills and a willingness to contribute to the on-going development of the service.

About you

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a strong understanding of tikanga and te reo Māori
  • Has experience working with māmā, pēpi and their whānau or in a community support role
  • Communicates effectively and works well in a team
  • Is empathetic, reliable, and respectful
  • Holds a full NZ driver’s licence
