About the Role

We are seeking House Officers to join us at Hawke's Bay Fallen Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital. We're excited to offer opportunities for House Officers available in January, April, July, and/or October 2027.

About the Team/Service/ Location

We employ a team of 190 Resident Medical Officers, made up of 67 House Officers and 123 Registrars.

Our teaching programme is comprehensive featuring Grand Rounds, specialty-specific clinical meetings, pathology conferences, clinic-radiology discussions, and weekly teaching sessions. We foster a diverse, dynamic, and collegial work environment with a strong focus on staff well-being and support.

Health NZ - Hawke’s Bay provides healthcare services to a population of approximately 180,000 people across the region. Hawke’s Bay Fallen Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital is the principal acute hospital and specialist service provider, supported by smaller satellite facilities in Central Hawke’s Bay, Napier, and Wairoa.

Located in Hastings, Hawke’s Bay Hospital is a 400 bed secondary level public hospital delivering both acute and elective care across a broad range of medical and surgical specialties, including paediatrics and obstetrics & gynaecology. We are supported by a strong regional ICU and flight team with tertiary support for cardiac intervention, cardiothoracic surgery, plastics and neurosurgery from Wellington, ensuring comprehensive care.

About you

  • You’re a Resident Medical Officer (RMO) PGY2 or above. For our UK applicants you will need to have completed Foundation Years 1 & 2
  • Not suitable for PGY1 including PGY1s that have passed NZREX or PLAB 1&2
  • You are registered or eligible for general registration, with the Medical Council of New Zealand
