About the Role
As a Health Care Assistant (HCA), you will work under the direction and delegation of a Registered Midwife to provide support for women, newborns, and whānau during pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period.
Your duties will range from assisting with comfort cares, baby cares, and breastfeeding support, to non-clinical tasks such as clerical assistance, replenishing supplies, and maintaining a safe, welcoming environment. At times, supervision will be direct, while in other situations it may be indirect, giving you autonomy within the scope of your training.
The role is part-time, working across Sunday – Monday shifts as and when needed to support the Maternity Unit.

The Maternity Unit at Tauranga Hospital provides high quality, whānau-centred care in a busy and supportive environment. You will be part of a committed midwifery team working collaboratively to provide safe and effective care, supported by strong links with other hospital services.
