About the Role

Reporting to the Group Director Operations, Tairāwhiti (Gisborne) this position exists to actively lead, set and manage the direction of Mental Health & Addictions in partnership with the Clinical Leadership and in consultation with the Mental Health and Addiction Leadership Team and other relevant clinicians and managers. You will tactically plan interventions such as safe staffing plans, succession plans, safety, and wellbeing initiatives to ensure delivery of the overall District’s strategy.

This role requires collaborative work with all other service managers to ensure a cohesive, client centred health care service across the District, working to eliminate health outcomes inequity for Māori, delivering on Health New Zealand Tairāwhiti’s Tiriti o Waitangi obligations

The General Manager will meet all delegated KPI’s, budgetary parameters while delivering the best possible health outcomes. The primary aim of the role is to ensure that the service is managed, safely, efficiently and effectively.

About the Team/Service/ Location

The Tairāwhiti Hospital and Specialist Service workforce includes over 1037 staff, reflecting significant ethnic and demographic diversity and collaborates regionally with other hospitals in Te Manawa Taki to enhance health outcomes. There is one hospital site in the district. Gisborne is based on the east coast of the North Island of New Zealand.

About you

You will have proven experience in a leadership role, planning, business development and budget management. You must have the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, have exceptional written and verbal communication skills and the ability to perform and meet targets.

  • Extensive experience in health including at least 10 years in leadership roles
  • Hold a post graduate qualification in leadership/management, with one or more academic degrees in a health related discipline
  • Proven experience successfully leading diverse teams through change and achieving improved results
  • Experience in a mental health and addiction setting is desirable.
