About the Role:
Counties Manukau District is seeking an experienced Fleet Manager to lead the strategic and operational management of our vehicle fleet and shuttle services operating between Middlemore Hospital and Manukau Health Park. Reporting to the Service Manager, you will be responsible for the end-to-end management and development of fleet and shuttle services, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities, sustainability goals, and operational excellence.
- Planning, directing, coordinating, and overseeing all aspects of fleet optimisation, acquisition, assignment, utilisation, maintenance, repair, replacement, and disposal of vehicles.
- Leading the planning and implementation of EV fleet transition, including optimisation of existing assets, leasing or purchasing EVs, and coordinating the installation of EV charging infrastructure across Counties Manukau District-owned and leased sites.
- Managing fleet operations across community teams, ensuring legal compliance, safety standards, and best-practice fleet management through robust systems, processes, and performance frameworks.
- Ensuring the shuttle and cargo delivery services meet the needs of service users and clinical teams by providing reliable, accurate, and timely transport solutions.
About You:
You are a strategic, solutions-focused leader with a strong background in fleet management and service improvement. You thrive in complex environments and are confident translating strategy into operational outcomes.
You will bring:
- A minimum of five years’ experience in fleet management
- At least two years’ experience leading EV fleet transition
- Proven leadership, stakeholder engagement, and negotiation skills
- A highly motivated, results-oriented approach
- The ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and deliver outcomes in a dynamic environment
