Te Whatu Ora – Waitematā invites applications for the position of Non-Training Registrar within the Adult Mental Health Services based at He Puna Waiora Inpatient unit. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the provision of high-quality psychiatric care within a multidisciplinary team serving the North and Rodney catchment areas.
About the role
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Conducting psychiatric assessments and formulating management plans under the supervision of Consultant Psychiatrists.
- Participating in the implementation of the Mental Health Act, including assessments and documentation.
- Engaging in family meetings, therapeutic interventions, and liaison with general practitioners and other health professionals.
- Maintaining comprehensive clinical documentation, including discharge summaries, correspondence, and medication records.
- Supporting the orientation and education of junior medical staff and students.
Supervision and Professional Development
- Weekly supervision sessions with a designated clinical supervisor, in accordance with the Medical Council of New Zealand guidelines.
- Optional participation in Journal Clubs and Grand Round presentations.
- Opportunities to contribute to operational research and service development initiatives.
Hours of Work
- Monday to Friday, 0800 to 1630 hours (40 hours per week)
Additional Information
Please note that this position is not accredited for Fellowship training by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP). However, it provides valuable clinical experience in a supportive and professionally enriching environment.
