About the Role 

Come and join the Emergency Department at Gisborne Hospital at an exciting time of growth. As our patient numbers increase, including a growing proportion of urgent care and lower-acuity presentations, we are seeking Urgent Care Specialists to strengthen our team on a six-month fixed-term basis, with various FTE opportunities available. 
 
This role will suit doctors who are confident making timely clinical decisions, comfortable undertaking minor procedures, and enjoy working in a friendly, fast-paced environment. We welcome applications from doctors with general practice, urgent care or rural medicine backgrounds. 
 
You will focus on urgent care and lower-acuity presentations, while the main Emergency Department remains staffed by Emergency Medicine consultants. Higher-acuity and complex presentations, including cardiac, neurological and trauma cases, are managed within the main ED. Full laboratory and X-ray services are available, supported by skilled and enthusiastic nursing colleagues, and an ED consultant is always available for escalation or advice. 
 
Clinical hours may be arranged across potentially flexible or split shifts between 9am and 9pm on weekends and some weekdays. We are looking for regular, reliable clinicians and aim to offer a high degree of scheduling flexibility, making this an attractive opportunity to combine meaningful clinical work with time to enjoy Tairāwhiti.

You will enjoy working collaboratively with medical and nursing colleagues and providing thoughtful, efficient care to the people of Tairāwhiti. 
 
We particularly welcome doctors with experience in general practice, urgent care or rural medicine who value teamwork, reliability and patient-centred care.
