Early Intervention Clinician
Mana Ake Program in Schools

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has become available for Clinicians as part of the Waiariki Mana Ake Programme in Taupo and Turangi. The role presents a phenomenal opportunity to make a positive difference. 

This role will be responsible for delivering early interventional health and wellbeing guidance, support and service within Primary and Intermediate Schools and Kaupapa Māori Kura. The Mana Ake service is led by health but delivered in collaboration with education, enabling the delivery of support where initial discovery of wellbeing need is often identified in a community setting.

The clinical mental health and wellbeing workforce will deliver evidence informed individual, group and whole of class wellbeing programmes / interventions for tamariki as well as broader wellbeing cluster support to kura and schools.

The Clinician will form part of a culturally responsive workforce focused on building whakawhānaungatanga and relationships and will walk alongside tamariki and whānau on their wellbeing journey.

The design and delivery of wellbeing support will be informed by tamariki and families/whānau voice, including ongoing delivery. Providing mechanisms and taking on board tamariki and whānau input is essential. The role will report to the Clinical Team Leader.

About You

You should have

  • A commitment to being a good Te Tiriti partner in all your actions. This includes an understanding of the significance of and obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and the ability to apply Te Tiriti principles in a meaningful way in this role
  • Phenomenal relationship skills and the ability to work effectively in a team
  • A full driver’s license
  • Comfortability conversing in Te Reo is required 

You will be:

  • An experienced health professional with current registration in Nursing, Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or related field.
  • Well experienced in working with community, tamariki and whānau
  • Adaptable and able to pivot within a rapidly changing environment
