- Working Te Papakāinga Atawhai o Tāmaki – Auckland City Hospital - Full-Time / Permanent role
- Clinical background and relevant qualifications are highly desirable
- Champion equitable health outcomes and ensure Te Tiriti principles are embedded in all Surgical & Perioperative services
- Be part of a high-performing team, clinically informed leadership and operational oversight across surgical and perioperative services, ensuring performance and delivery align with Te Toka Tumai’s strategic goals and uphold Te Tiriti o Waitangi and reporting to support healthcare transformation
- Responsible for maximising the clinical/managerial partnership to promote high-quality clinical outcomes, foster a culture of accountability across disciplines, and oversee staff performance appraisals and leadership development.
- Represents Te Toka Tumai within the health service and broader community, working closely with Māori Health Leads, senior leaders, and governance bodies to contribute to integrated, high-performing care systems and strategic planning.

About the Role
Join Health New Zealand | Te Toka Tumai Auckland and play a vital leadership role in supporting the Surgical and Perioperative Directorate. These roles are senior leadership positions accountable for all aspects of performance and delivery across the Directorate.
Operating as a partnership model, Director (Portfolio 1) and Director (Portfolio 2), the role provides clinically informed leadership and operational oversight, ensuring Te Tiriti o Waitangi is upheld and equity is embedded in service delivery. Working in partnership to lead a portfolio of surgical and perioperative services, distributed to optimise patient pathways and ensure seamless service integration.
It maximises the clinical/managerial partnership to drive high-quality outcomes and a culture of accountability, while overseeing staff development and representing Te Toka Tumai in strategic planning and system-wide collaboration.
We are seeking two Directors to lead and coordinate the Surgical & Perioperative Directorate:
- Director, Adult Surgical & Perioperative Services (Portfolio 1)
- Director, Adult Surgical & Perioperative Services (Portfolio 2)
