Digital Content Producer - Digital & Community Engagement, Starship Child Health

About the role

We have an exciting, fixed term (1 year), full-time (1FTE) Digital Content Producer role to join the Starship Digital and Community Engagement team. The Digital Content Producer is responsible for the end-to-end process of creating digital content for Starship’s digital platforms, from conceptualising ideas to content development, both video and graphic, to handover and supporting implementation. This includes content that is shared via Starship’s websites, social media, and mobile applications, helping us share important safety and health messages with whānau and health professionals.

The content is created for caregivers and whānau involved in caring for children in Aotearoa, New Zealand and health professionals who work and share information with whānau. It requires cultural connection and technical experience. This role will utilise Te reo Māori and mātauranga Māori and/or Pacific languages, cultural knowledge and expertise to connect digital storytelling that resonates with whānau, aiga, families and communities.

About the Service

Starship’s Digital and Community Engagement service is continually transforming and is dedicated to upholding and actualising Te Tiriti o Waitangi and championing Māori and Pacific health equity.

The service supports work across Ririki Haumaru Safekids Aotearoa (RHSA) New Zealand’s lead service for child injury prevention. Our kaupapa focuses on haumarutanga and Pae Ora for mokpouna and whānau, supporting whānau to create safer environments and prevent harm in and around the home and bodies of water, on the road, and at play.

By joining our team, you will contribute to storytelling (pūrākau) that underpins this kaupapa - community, policy and advocacy, and digital engagement – and amplify the voices, values and lived experiences of tamariki, Māori and Pacific whānau and ensure content is accessible and relevant to all across our platforms and the breadth of Starship and Te Toka Tumai – Health New Zealand.

About you

To be successful you will have:

  • Te Reo me ōna Tikanga and/or Pacific Peoples’ language(s)
  • Appropriate tertiary qualification, including: visual media, screen production, digital design, animation, graphic design, radio, TV, film, fine arts, audio production/engineering, communications, or other relevant qualification.
  • Knowledge and experience with editing software and digital content tools
  • Strong skills in graphics, titles, filming, sound capture, and mixing
  • A creative and proactive approach to
  • Highly proficient filming, and sound capture and sound mixing.

Our digital mahi creates accessible campaigns and resources that support whānau to keep tamariki safe – sharing practical tips, safety alerts, and culturally grounded messaging and storytelling across website, social media and digital platforms.
