About the Role
We are seeking a Dietitian with strong expertise in nutrition, food service management, and health IT systems to join our dynamic and collaborative team at Waikato Hospital. This role focuses on using your professional knowledge and skills to maintain and further develop our Nutrition and Food Service Software System, My Kai, ensuring efficiency, patient safety to support clinical care and treatment.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage daily operations and optimisation the My Kai software system
- Lead therapeutic diet management (including allergies and texture modification), ensuring safety and compliance
- Support menu planning and recipe development balancing nutrition, cost, quality, and patient feedback
- Provide expert nutritional and allergen analysis of food items and recipes
- Deliver training and support for system users hospital wide
- Lead and support innovation and continuous improvement initiatives within the department
- Provide reporting and data analytics to inform clinical and operational decision-making
- Maintain up-to-date policies, procedures, and training materials

About the Team/Service
Nutrition & Food Services objective is to provide a safe, quality and efficient food and nutrition service that meets the nutritional requirements of individuals and maintain their overall health and well-being.
Each meal time we prepare and serve over 850 patient meals. We also provide Meals on Wheels for community clients and have -five on-site retail outlets.
Our patient meal service includes production, service and distribution of the food to the patient bedside. We have a number of managers and dietitians that work in collaboration to ensure our patients receive a high quality food service incorporating excellence in customer service.
About you
To succeed in this role, you will:
- Be a New Zealand Registered Dietitian with a current practising certificate
- Have at least 5 years’ experience, preferably in a food service setting
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and apply its principles in practice
- Have experience with nutrition-related IT systems and data analytics
- Be able to manage complex priorities in a dynamic health service environment
