The Auckland Regional Dental Service (ARDS) is the largest Community Oral Health Service in Aotearoa, serving an enrolled population of approximately 300,000 tamariki. We provide free dental services from birth through to the end of school year 8 across fixed clinics, mobile units, and outreach-based care.
Our expanding and innovative Community Outreach Programme ensures tamariki from priority communities can access oral health care in locations that best meet their needs.
The Opportunity/Ngā whāinga mahi
We are seeking three Dental / Oral Health Therapists to join our South Auckland Outreach team.
Bring your passion for the wellbeing of tamariki, your understanding of Te Ao Māori, your lived experiences, and your strong community connections to this expanding kaupapa. Your contribution will support equitable access to oral health services by delivering care where it is most needed.
The Outreach model of care focuses on targeted engagement to reduce inequities, strengthen relationships, and partner with key communities and whānau. As part of this programme, you will provide onsite dental services to:
- Mainstream schools and Early Childhood Education centres (ECEs)
- Kura Kaupapa Māori
- Bilingual units
- Kōhanga Reo
- Pacific Language Nests
You will work collaboratively within a supportive and experienced Outreach team, alongside Dental Assistants, other clinicians, community partners, and whānau.

You will be well supported through a comprehensive orientation, ongoing mentoring, and access to professional development opportunities. ARDS also provides annual practicing certificate fees and long service leave, reflecting our commitment to your long‑term growth and wellbeing.
In order to step into this role successfully, you would have;
- NZ Annual Practising Certificate
- Demonstrated experience in New Zealand
- Strong interpersonal skills that allow you to communicate well with the team as well as the patients and their whānau
- Recognition of and respect for Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- An enthusiasm for working in health and with Tamariki
- A can do attitude, an ability to problem solve and be flexible to ensure service provision is prioritised
- A self-directed and motivated approach to your mahi
