About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for motivated Physiotherapist(s) to join our physiotherapy team with a focus on delivering high-quality physiotherapy input and supporting workforce education within Critical Care Complex and supporting across the wider inpatient physiotherapy team across the hospital.

This role is made up of 2 components, the first being the weekday Physiotherapy educator within our Critical Care unit, the second being a Physiotherapist involved in expanding our Critical Care services to provide a vital 7 day physiotherapy input, for this 2nd component you will be required to include at least one weekend day as part of your regular schedule. We are open to flexibility as to whether one person takes on both components or whether its two individual roles depending on what applicants’ skills, experience and preferences re FTE are. Key Responsibilities for both components of the role

  • Provide expert cardiorespiratory and critical care physiotherapy services in Critical Care Complex over weekend shifts (Saturdays and/or Sundays).
  • Lead and contribute to education initiatives aimed at building capability and resilience in the critical care physiotherapy workforce.
  • Deliver “on the job” coaching and support to Allied Health staff working in critical care.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to optimise patient outcomes.
  • Participate in regional collaboration with other Allied Health Critical Care Educators and clinicians to support service consistency and development.
  • Prioritise workforce diversity and equitable health outcomes by supporting Māori and Pacific practitioners within the critical care setting.

About You

  • Registered Physiotherapist with experience or keen interest in critical care and cardiorespiratory physiotherapy.
  • At least 6 years post-graduation physiotherapy experience, ideally 3 years within ICU/HDU areas
  • Confident working autonomously in a fast-paced critical care environment.
  • Passionate about clinical education and workforce development.
  • Commitment to improving health equity for Māori and Pacific peoples through culturally responsive care and support.
  • Excellent communicator and team player, able to work collaboratively across disciplines and regions.
  • Available and willing to work weekend shifts (either Saturday, Sunday, or both).
