About the Role
We are currently seeking a General Surgeon with Upper GI training and experience to join our team as part of the Department of General Surgery. This role is 12-months fixed term, maternity cover full time position, based out of Middlemore Hospital and Manukau Health Park. The role and responsibility of this position will consist of surgical assessment and treatment in the area of General Surgery.
About the Team/Service/ Location
We are a major tertiary teaching hospital affiliated to University of Auckland School of Medicine serving a diverse population of over 500000 in South and East Auckland.
We service a population with significant challenges by utilising a strong collegial attitude and an active focus on patient centred care. This position will require involvement in multidisciplinary settings in order to provide the best possible care to our patients. Our General Surgery department deals with a wide range of conditions which may require cross over into other specialities which will provide you with the opportunity to liaise with different teams across the hospital to provide the best possible care for our patients.

About you
As an Upper GI and general surgeon, you are expected to bring relevant training and experience in this domain. You must be eligible to gain Vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (eligibility for registration can be checked via this link https://www.mcnz.org.nz/get-registered/registration-self-assessment-tool/ ) with current Annual Practising Certificate with the NZMC.
