About the Role
We are seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to join Rapua te Ao Waiora – our Community Adult Mental Health Team, based in Papakura. This role offers the opportunity to work in a community setting, providing clinical leadership and specialist care for tangata whaiora and their whānau.
You will be part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team that delivers equity-focused care, guided by Te Tiriti o Waitangi and kaupapa Māori approaches to mental health and wellbeing. This role requires a balance of strong clinical skills, cultural responsiveness, and the ability to support whaiora with complex needs in the community.
About the Team/Service/Location
Rapua te Ao Waiora provides community-based mental health services to the people of South Auckland. Our team is whānau-centred and recovery-focused, working alongside tangata whaiora, whānau, and wider community supports to ensure care is effective, culturally safe, and accessible.
Based in Papakura, this role offers the opportunity to engage directly with the community, building relationships that create real and lasting change.

We are looking for someone who demonstrates:

· Strong leadership qualities, with honesty, integrity, and professionalism.
· The ability to promote teamwork and navigate complex clinical presentations with a focus on equity and cultural safety.
You will be supported by a strong leadership structure, including the Service Manager, Clinical Head, and Senior Leadership Team. This is a chance to contribute to service development, influence strategic direction, and support a culture of excellence in community mental health care.
Essential Requirements
· Vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand in the scope of Psychiatry.
· Current Annual Practising Certificate (APC).
