About the Role
An opportunity exists for a Specialist Anaesthetist to join the Department of Anaesthesia and Pain Management at Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty. This is a permanent role, working 0.57FTE.
You will join a department and location that is experiencing growth. As a team member with a commitment to providing Anaesthesia and Pain Services across the Bay of Plenty, you will participate in all aspects of service provision including providing care for all age groups, Afterhours, Obstetrics and Acute Care. If this is you, we would like to hear from you – come and join our Anaesthetic team working in the Bay of Plenty serving a population of 276,000.
This permanent position is based at Tauranga Hospital with a commitment to supporting services across the Bay of Plenty, including Whakatāne Hospital.

About you
To be successful in the role we are looking for an experienced and adaptable Anaesthetist with a collaborative mindset and a patient-first approach. You are looking to working in a team that values connection, service development, and the opportunity to make a difference across a growing region. Presenting strong clinical skills across the breadth of anaesthesia, and equally comfortable supporting acute care, obstetrics, and perioperative planning.
The successful applicant must hold qualifications that meet the criteria for vocational registration or eligible for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
