About the Roles

We currently have an opening in our team for Registered Nurses with a passion for Mental Health nursing. In Raranga Tahi you will be working in a collaborative model with a non-government organisation, you will be working alongside Taura-here who provide the cultural lens of the team. The hours of work are Wednesday to Saturday 10am – 10 pm. You will provide community based acute support to facilitate early discharge from Tumanako (inpatient unit) and acute support to circumvent admission.

About the Team/Service/Location

Raranga Tahi and Whangārei Acute Spectrum Specialist Services (WASSS) are a group of community-based teams that provide acute specialist assessment and treatment for new and existing clients within Health New Zealand Te Tai Tokerau Mental Health and Addictions service. We are a close whānau that works collaboratively and genuinely care about each other. Our sense of belonging is enhances with a lot of laughter and humour and we are committed to ongoing professional and cultural development.

About you

Essential requirements:

  • NZ registered nurse with a current practicing certificate
  • Two years’ experience in acute and/or Kaupapa-led community mental health practice working with tāngata whaiora and their whānau living with the effects of mental illness in our community
  • Be a Duly Authorised Officer or be willing to work towards the same
  • Proven ability to communicate well with tāngata whaiora, their whānau and colleagues, and engage Māori in making choices that enhance their wellbeing
  • A current, full NZ drivers’ licence
