About the Role

We are looking for a Registered Nurse to join our supportive community-based POPS Older Adult Mental Health and Addictions multidisciplinary team. Based in Whangārei, this is an exciting opportunity to provide a robust and appropriate single point of entry triage process to ensure that all referrals to POPS services are managed in a timely, responsive and appropriate manner. You will conduct preliminary assessments and work with the team to develop triage scales categorising the urgency of response required. You will liaise with referrers providing appropriate and timely information to maintain and strengthen the links and communication pathways with whānau and interface agencies.

Our service supports persons aged 65 years and over, who are experiencing an acute mental health illness or people living with dementia of any age who are experiencing significant behavioural and psychological challenges. About you

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Be a registered nurse and hold a current practicing certificate
  • Display sound judgement for safe and appropriate decision making to assess the presence, severity and complexity of a person’s mental illness symptoms
  • Have experience working within the community mental health and addiction setting and be dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of older people
  • Have well developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be able to work as part of a positive and productive multidisciplinary team
  • Hold a full New Zealand driver’s licence
