Community Engagement and Health Promotion Advisor - BreastScreen Waitematā Northland

  • Permanent position
  • Full-time (1 FTE, 80 hours per fortnight)
  • Monday to Friday (with occasional weekend and evenings required to attend community events)
  • Based in Northwest, Auckland

About Us

BreastScreen Waitematā Northland is part of Health New Zealand’s free national BreastScreen Aotearoa (BSA) Programme. We screen over 45,000 wāhine each year, and we pride ourselves on consistently delivering a positive experience for our clients.

About the Role

In this role you will support, promote and maximize opportunities for eligible women, to participate in the BSA Programme. The role has a particular focus on support for Māori and Pacific women as well as strengthening connections with primary care.

You will be required to work alongside organisations and communities that have an existing relationship with those wāhine and their whanau. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with those organisations and supporting them to enable women to get screened.

About You

We are seeking a skilled and experienced candidate for this dynamic role, you will have experience in community engagement and evaluation of health promotion programs and campaigns.

You will also possess well developed communication skills and be able to build relationships effectively with community and professional groups.

To be considered for the role, you will need;

  • Relevant qualification in health science, health promotion or a similar area
  • Full clean driving licence
  • Previous health promotion experience
  • Existing networks with primary and community health providers
  • Have a sound understanding of cultural models care
  • Be an interactive team player
