About the Role

Vascular and Interventional Research Unit (VIRU) is looking for a Clinical Research Coordinator to join our team.

 As a Clinical Research Coordinator:

  •      You will work alongside Study sponsors, Study participants and Clinical teams to support their involvement as a provider of a healthcare service.
  •       Be the main point of contact for the studies you look after.
  •       You are responsible for all study activity, including obtaining ethical and regulatory approvals, administrative  set-up,  patient recruitment,patient follow up and safety reporting.
  •       You have a “can do” attitude and a commitment to excellence. You will be a strong patient advocate.
  •       You will support and assist in the operating theatre and interventional radiology suite during clinical trial procedures.

About the Team/Service/ Location

The position is primarily based at Auckland City Hospital, an 1165 bed teaching hospital. Vascular and Interventional Research Unit (VIRU) is a world-renowned team of Clinical Research Coordinators, specializing in First in Human Clinical Trials, some of which are First in World.  The expertise of the VIRU Clinical Research Coordinators is recognised worldwide, as they support and participate as a lead site in innovative research here in New Zealand.

The expertise of the unit lies in first in human, innovative medical devices, with the aim of further developing therapeutic treatments for vascular patients.

VIRU also participate in single and  multi-centre and randomised studies, as well as post-market registries.  This is a varied and satisfying role in a small and supportive high functioning team, which prioritises the differences we make to a patient’s life.

About you

We are looking for the following requirements:

  •      University degree in Nursing, Health Sciences or Biomedical sciences, ideally with experience working within the public health system
  •      Experience in clinical research coordination
  •      You have GCP certification or awareness of GCP principles
  •      You have a high level of personal responsibility.
  •      You are a detail orientated person with an adaptable and learning mind set.
  •      You have strong communication skills which allow you to enjoy the camaraderie of a close- knit team but also excel independently.

 This is a challenging role with a varied day-to-day routine, requiring a high level of adaptability and critical thinking.
