About the Role

An exciting opportunity awaits a motivated NZ registered pharmacist to join our dynamic and supportive pharmacy team in a permanent, full-time position. This dual focused role spans both Oncology Pharmacy services and Clinical Pharmacy service delivery.

You will be part of a highly engaged team with a strong emphasis on clinical excellence, quality improvement, and patient centred care. Working within our brand-new Te Hōpua Whakahauora | Taranaki Cancer Centre, you’ll work alongside a multidisciplinary team in a collaborative, patient-focused setting that values precision, compassion, and continuous learning and quality improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Oncology Pharmacy Services:

  • Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to deliver cohesive, patient centred cancer care based in Te Hōpua Whakahauora | Taranaki Cancer Centre
  • Apply sound clinical judgement to oncology prescribing, supporting evidence-based care
  • Provide clinical pharmacy services including medication review, patient education, and treatment optimisation

Clinical Pharmacy Services:

  • Providing clinical pharmacy services to our inpatients, including medicines reconciliation, medication review and optimisation, discharge facilitation, patient medication education
  • Promoting safe and effective uses of medicines, and patient-centred care
  • Contributing towards quality improvement and medication safety initiatives
  • Continuing to grow your clinical expertise and contributing to education and training of your colleagues and other professions
  • Supporting other aspects of the pharmacy service such as inpatient dispensary and on-call service

This role also includes participation in the on-call roster, including weekend shifts compensated at overtime rates.

Health New Zealand – Taranaki’s Pharmacy Service is a collaborative, forward thinking department providing safe and effective medication management across Taranaki Base and Hāwera Hospitals.

We uphold high standards in pharmaceutical supply, medicines safety, and clinical service delivery, while continually seeking opportunities to enhance patient care. Our pharmacists work closely with medical, nursing, and allied health teams to ensure optimal, patient centred outcomes.

We are also supported by a dedicated eMedication Management team who partner with Pharmacy to lead digital medication management initiatives across the organisation.

About you

You will need to have: 

  • A Bachelor of Pharmacy or equivalent.
  • Hold a current APC with the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand
  • At least two years of hospital pharmacy experience.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practice.
