We have an opportunity for a senior nurse to join our Respiratory services. The responsibilities of this advanced practice nursing role will include clinical management and support of respiratory lung cancer patients throughout their Lung cancer diagnostic pathway ensuring patients remain within the “faster Cancer treatment” timeframes, and reporting of breaches.
Your focus will be on assessment, coordination of care delivery and management of patients with lung cancer and respiratory disease. You will also support patients with long term respiratory conditions, oxygen therapy and patients that are being nursed on non-invasive ventilation.
The role will involve education on treatment options and support services for patients and whanau as well as review of both new and follow up patients in the out-patient clinic setting. This will involve a close working relationship with multidisciplinary teams to ensure a smooth transition of care. An understanding of non-invasive ventilation will be an advantage.
About the Team/Service/ Location
This role is based at North Shore Hospital. We are a team that works at pace, with passion, vision and intent. Our Clinical Nurse Specialist role is pivotal to our success and will be expected to engage fully with the whole team.
About you
To be considered we will need the following:
· New Zealand Registered Nurse, with a current Annual Practising Certificate
· At least five years post registration respiratory nursing practice
· Achieved RN Level 4 or equivalent in specialty with current portfolio
· Post-registration education and learning opportunities e.g. Post Graduate Diploma in respiratory nursing essential. Must include advanced assessment and diagnostic reasoning skills.
· Previous experience in Lung Cancer pathways and management
