About the Role

We are seeking a suitably qualified, enthusiastic, culturally aware, motivated clinical nurse specialist (CNS) to join the geriatric clinical nurse specialist team. This position requires the successful candidate to work closely alongside the OPR inpatient charge nurse managers (CNM), Emergency Department and OPAL teams to provide specialist nursing care and expertise to support clinical decision making, educational requirements and be actively involved in quality improvements for care of the older adult. The role is predominantly based in OPR.

About you

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has an understanding of Māori inequity
  • Has demonstrated advanced assessment skills
  • Applies evidence based practice as per clinical guidelines
  • Has effective skills in written and verbal communication with excellent clinical documentation skills
  • Is considered a clinical expert / role model and leader in the Health of the older person. Has a proven ability to work within the multi-disciplinary team
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude and professional work ethic with the ability to share knowledge and give and receive constructive feedback
  • Experience and willingness to be involved in developing and implementing standards of nursing practice in the specific area of practice
  • Experience and willingness to be involved in the development of pathways, protocols, and guidelines in the specific area of practice
  • Brings a critical thinking lens to the role
