About the Role

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora – Lakes is looking for an experienced Clinical Nurse Manager to lead our Outpatient Department across Rotorua and Taupo. You will build strong working relationships across our multidisciplinary teams, champion continuous improvement, and support your people to grow through coaching, education, and performance development. You will also play an active role in strengthening our commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and improving outcomes for Māori across our services.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Across our Rotorua and Taupo sites, the OPD team totals 45 FTE spanning nursing and administration, working together as one team to deliver consistently high standards of care. Our clinics are busy and fast-paced, seeing an average of 300 patients through our doors each day. As CNM, you will have oversight of the entire patient journey — from initial referral through to First Specialist Assessment (FSA), and follow up care — ensuring every step is efficient, well-coordinated, and centred on the needs of our patients and their whānau.

About you

  • Registered Nurse with current NCNZ registration and Annual Practising Certificate, plus a relevant nursing qualification

  • 5+ years post-registration experience

  • Proven clinical leadership, with a track record of managing teams, driving quality improvement, and building sustainable relationships across a multidisciplinary environment

  • Strong operational know-how — comfortable with budgets, reporting, KPIs, and using Microsoft Office and clinical information systems

  • A values-led, people-first approach, with genuine care and compassion for patients, whānau, and colleagues, and a commitment to your own and others' ongoing professional development
