About the Role and Service
As part of the Te Tai Tokerau Cardiology Service, the Clinical Nurse Manager - Coronary Care Unit (CCU) provides strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for the CCU and inpatient cardiology services, ensuring the safe, effective, and efficient delivery of high-quality patient care. The role holds professional nursing, clinical leadership, and operational management accountability, working in partnership with multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated, patient-centred care.
The Clinical Nurse Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of the service, including clinical safety, patient flow, capacity and demand management, and effective resource utilisation. The role provides leadership and oversight for cardiology patients/tūroro/tangata whai ora within the CCU and across inpatient ward settings, supporting the delivery of specialist cardiac care throughout the patient journey. The position also has responsibility for the Cardiac Rehabilitation Service, providing specialist nursing support for patients preparing for cardiac surgery and follow-up care after surgery, with a focus on improving outcomes and reducing complications and readmissions.
Te Tai Tokerau Cardiology is a growing specialist service supported by a dedicated inpatient cardiology team, including cardiologists, resident medical officers, nursing, and allied health staff. The service is supported by an on-site cardiac catheterisation laboratory, echocardiography services, and advanced cardiac imaging, enabling the delivery of comprehensive specialist care close to home. With a major hospital redevelopment currently underway, this role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the future development of cardiology services across the region.

About the Team/Service/Location
The Coronary Care Unit (CCU) is a five-bed specialist unit providing care for cardiology patients requiring a higher level of specialist nursing assessment, monitoring, and intervention than can be provided in a general ward environment. The cardiology service provides specialist oversight and responsibility for the care of cardiology patients across the inpatient continuum, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality specialist cardiac care both within CCU and for cardiology patients managed in other ward areas.

About you
Essential requirements:
- New Zealand Registered Nurse with a current annual practicing certificate
- Post graduate certificate/diploma in speciality nursing practice or health leadership/management
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience post registration in relevant nursing specialty
- Cardiology experience
- Ability to develop successful teamwork and collaborations
- Ability to implement service delivery plans
- Effective expression of information both orally and in writing
