About the Role
Te Whatu Ora Taranaki maternity service consists of a secondary maternity unit located in Taranaki Base Hospital in New Plymouth, and a primary birthing unit locate in Hawera. The maternity unit consists of a combined birthing suite and antenatal ward, and a separate postnatal ward. There are six birthing rooms, a birthing pool, seven antenatal beds, and 16 postnatal beds. The primary birthing unit in Hawera has one birthing room with pool and three postnatal beds.
Te Whatu Ora Taranaki’s neonatal unit has level 2A accreditation with 6 cots and 2 intensive care cots to provide care for babies from 28 weeks gestation.
The salary range for this position is $117,467 to $125,113 as per Designated Senior Midwife Salary Scale of the MERAS Midwives Collective Agreement

In this role you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team. Caring for whanau through all stages of their maternity journey. You will be able to utilise your knowledge and skills to enable the to ensure whanau experience the best possible care. You will also have plenty of opportunity to demonstrate your commitment to quality assurance and accreditation principles.

About you
To be a successful in this role you will:
- Be registered with the Midwifery Council and have five-year postgraduate experience
- Hold a current annual practising certificate with no conditions on your scope of practice
- Demonstrate clinical and cultural competence to a high standard
- Display strong leadership skills
- Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Have evidence of continuing education with postgraduate qualification (or working towards)
- Be able to work rostered shifts in all areas of the maternity unit
