About the Role

As a Clinical Engineering Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, calibration, and safety testing of medical equipment used within the hospital. This role combines technical skills with healthcare knowledge, including equipment installation, calibration, quality assurance, and staff training.

This role is based on the Whangarei Hospital Campus. You will work closely with clinical teams and engineering professionals to maintain optimal equipment performance and support patient care.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Our team currently consists of 10 skilled individuals collaborating to achieve a common goal, leveraging their combined skills, knowledge and perspectives for increased productivity, creativity, and efficiency. We are based at the Whangarei Hospital for the Northern Region of Health Technology Operations for Health New Zealand.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate basic engineering abilities to perform engineering tasks safely and competently. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to build positive working relationship at all levels is essential.

  • Relevant tertiary engineering qualification New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) level 7 or equivalent level of practical experience
  • Registered as an Electrical Appliance Serviceperson - Endorsed Medical Cardiac Protected Areas endorsement on or higher class with the Electrical Workers Registration Board
  • Current NZ full driver’s license
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with people at all levels within the public and private sector
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to upholding patient safety and regulatory standards

We are seeking someone who is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and loyalty in all aspects of their work. Previous experience in a similar role is desirable, however not essential to apply.
