About us:

The Auckland Regional Forensic Psychiatry Service based on the Mason Clinic site delivers a comprehensive range of Forensic Mental Health Services and Intellectual Disabilities services, including secure inpatient acute and rehabilitation services which connect to community rehabilitation services, services for offenders with an intellectual disability, culture specific programmes for Maori, court liaison and prison mental health services. This includes a regional service to Northland Region Corrections Facility at Ngawha and Northland.

 About the role

We are currently seeking to recruit 3 new Clinical Educator roles. These roles will have a specific focus in relation to training and education of the workforce. This role will involve planning workforce development and collaborating with clinical, cultural and operational leaders to identify opportunities to enhance our workforce’s capabilities and competencies through educational initiatives.

Initially, these roles will focus on supporting the service in implementing Safe Practice and Effective Communication (SPEC), which supports best and least restrictive practice in mental health and intellectual disabilities. Once this is successfully established, the roles will expand to cover other relevant areas within the service.

 About you

You should possess a strong understanding of adult education principles, be a confident instructor, and have experience in supervising and mentoring colleagues.

We are seeking candidates from nursing and allied health backgrounds with a minimum of five years of experience in mental health services, ideally specialising in Forensic and/or Intellectual Disabilities care.

In addition, you should be proficient in managing the necessary technology, including MS Teams and videoconferencing, and PowerPoint. A high level of motivation and organisational skills are essential.
