The Role:

Are you a passionate, culturally responsive registered nurse or qualified smear taker ready to make a real impact in women’s health? We have an opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join our team! The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting the Support to Screening Service; to provide additional support for high priority group women within the Counties Manukau district by running cervical screening clinics. There will be a strong emphasis on priority Maaori and Pacific communities. Although we have clinics during standard hours, we also hold evening and weekend clinics (generally Saturday mornings).

Reporting to the Support to Screening Service Team Leader, the role will include providing cervical screening in a number of settings including community settings (such as marae and Community Houses) and at the Manukau Health Park and Mangere Community Health locality. 

To be successful in this role you are will be extremely well organised and able to work autonomously. You will have strong interpersonal and relationship skills and able to communicate at all levels. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide cervical screening (smear-taking) clinics in both clinical and community environments
  • Collaborate with Primary Health Organisations (PHOs) and practices to target unscreened/underscreened women
  • Mentor and support practice staff and screen-takers
  • Assist with outreach, health promotion, and patient recall efforts
  • Ensure culturally safe care tailored to individual needs
  • Maintain accurate records, use health IT systems, and uphold clinical standards

About You:

  • NZ Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practicing Certificate.
  • 1+ years recent clinical experience within Primary Care/GP setting.
  • Qualified independent smear taker (Cervical Sample Taker) qualification.
  • Full and clean NZ Drivers Licence
