About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Health Care Assistant to come and join NZ Health | Te Whatu Ora, Waikato, Older Persons and Rehabilitation service working at Matariki Continuing Care facility, Te Awamutu.
Applicants will need to have a passion to care for the elderly in a kind and empathetic manner and be prepared to work in a busy and challenging environment.
Successful applicants must be available to work rostered and rotating 8 hours shifts 24/7 across all seven days of the week.
The salary for this position will be based on experience and in line with the NZNO agreement.

About the Service
Matariki is an off-site Health NZ | Te Whatu Ora Inpatient Continuing Care facility. Matariki cares mostly for post-acute patients who have been inpatients at Waikato or Thames hospitals and need time to recover prior to their discharge.
Matariki has a rehabilitative focus and also cares for palliative and day care patients.
You will be joining our dedicated interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals. We can offer a comprehensive orientation programme and supportive staff development opportunities to extend your skills.
About you
To be considered for this role, you’ll need:
- previous health care assistant experience, preferably in a hospital setting.
- previous work experience in a New Zealand health care setting.
- preference will be given to those who have achieved health related NZQA standards.
- understanding that this role has no permanent hours per week attached
