About our department
Ophthalmology Services delivers high-quality care to patients across the Auckland region, providing a comprehensive range of secondary and tertiary services. Following a recent service review, we have strengthened and formalised our clinical leadership structure to support the ongoing development of patient pathways and to enhance collaboration within and across teams, ensuring the best possible outcomes for our patients.
As a result, a new Business Support Manager position has been established to provide business and operational support, with a strong focus on continuous service improvement. This role will help ensure the effective delivery of both acute and planned care across multiple sites, supporting the provision of high-quality healthcare for patients within Surgical Services.
This is a full-time, fixed-term position (40 hours per week). The successful candidate will be employed by Te Toka Tumai Auckland and primarily based at Greenlane Clinical Centre, with responsibilities that include providing support at various sites across the Auckland region.
About the role
In this role, you will be contributing to the hands-on day-to-day operational running of a large and fast-paced service. You will work closely with subspecialty multi-disciplinary teams with a continuous improvement focus on meeting health targets, patient care and experience. Your role will involve assisting in project delivery, ensuring delivery of targets, day-to-day changes in timetables, sourcing adequate leave cover and management of the administration team.

About you
As the ideal person for the role, you will have the following skills and attributes: -
- Tertiary qualification in health sciences, business or related field
- Strong operational and business analysis skills or experience
- Business and relationship management skills and capability
- Excellent written, reporting and verbal communication skills
- Strategic thinking and planning
- The ability to influence and persuade
- Ability to work as a part of the team and build strong relationships within a multidisciplinary team
- Statistical numeracy
- Moderate to Advanced excel skills including complex formulas, pivot tables, macros, and data analysis techniques
- Previous relevant experience working in the health sector would be advantageous
- Project management
- Excellent communication, organisational skills with the ability to make sound decisions
- Negotiation and conflict management skills with the ability to facilitate change.
- Strong work ethic and a positive mind set with the ability to problem solve and identify opportunities for improvement
