Parental Leave cover opportunity- Clinical Nurse Specialist, North Island Sarcoma Service at Te Toka Tumai, specialty in Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Sarcoma

About the Role

We are seeking a senior Registered Nurse with advanced clinical nursing skills, exceptional leadership skills and preferably experience working with the AYA age group for the role of Clinical Nurse Specialist Sarcoma -AYA. We will provide comprehensive orientation and ongoing education in a supportive, team-based environment.

Your primary responsibility will be to provide specialised nursing care and case management of AYA patients with sarcoma. A high level of clinical leadership, excellent patient and whanau centred communication, patient care coordination along the pathway, education and clinical teaching to both patients, whanau and staff. This role works across the whole system and at all stages of the patient pathway including as AYA move between settings.

Te Toka Tumai - Auckland / Te Whatu Ora is the provider the North Island Sarcoma Service, consolidating clinical services at Auckland City Hospital. The model involves centralised decision-making and regional collaboration.

You will need to work autonomously as part of a supportive senior nursing and multidisciplinary team dedicated to evidence-based youth health and nursing practice. The ideal applicant will have extensive experience working with young people and surgical and/or oncology nursing experience, you will be practising at a senior level, preferably with a postgraduate certificate or diploma in Youth Health or specialty nursing practice.

About You

It is essential that you meet the following criteria:

  • Have NZ nursing registration with a current Annual Practicing Certificate
  • Have at least 5 years post-graduate experience, preferably in orthopaedics and or oncology.
  • Interact effectively with a multi-disciplinary team
  • Maintain safe cultural practice and develop your cultural knowledge
  • Have received training in youth health and clinical experience working with this age group.
  • Preferably with a postgraduate certificate or diploma
