We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Audiologist to join our Otorhinolaryngology (ORL) team at Waitematā District. This role focuses on ear assessment and diagnostic audiology, including referrals for grommet insertion. You will conduct First Specialist Assessments (FSAs) and refer patients directly to the surgical waitlist, ensuring a streamlined and patient-centred journey.
This is a rewarding opportunity to work within a supportive multidisciplinary team committed to improving access, timeliness, and equity in hearing health care. The position may suit an audiologist seeking to complement another role or transition gradually to part-time clinical practice.
Mō tātou rātonga | About our Service
Our Audiology team is part of a well-established ORL service providing comprehensive assessment and rehabilitation for adults and children across the Waitematā region. You will work alongside ORL consultants, nurses, and administrative staff to deliver high-quality, evidence-based, and culturally responsive audiology services.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
• Diagnostic ear and hearing assessments for both children and adults
• Identifying patients requiring surgical intervention (e.g., grommets) and managing referrals
• Conducting FSAs and ensuring timely, accurate clinical documentation
• Liaising with community health providers and general practitioners
• Contributing to service quality improvement, education, and reflective practice
Mōu | About You
You are a New Zealand Registered Audiologist with a current Annual Practising Certificate and NZAS Clinical Competency Certificate.
You will bring:
• At least 3 years’ post-registration experience in diagnostic audiology (adult and/or paediatric)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative team approach
• A commitment to culturally safe practice and to reducing inequities for Māori and Pacific patients
• Excellent time-management and documentation skills
• Familiarity with ENT-related pathways, particularly referral management for grommet insertion
