The Role:

Are you a senior nurse with a passion for clinical leadership, staff support, and improving surgical outcomes? We have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Clinical Nurse Manager (ACNM) to join our dedicated team at Manukau Health Park (MHP), where you’ll play a key role in ensuring quality, patient-focused care within the perioperative department.

The ACNM role is a pivotal leadership position responsible for the coordination and clinical oversight of the Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) at MHP. You’ll support a nursing team of 32 FTE, coordinate patient flow through a busy department, respond to emergencies showing clinical expertise, and guide quality improvement, ensuring the delivery of safe and effective care.

Your strong clinical expertise, critical thinking, and commitment to excellence will help guide staff through complex decision-making, patient transfers, and challenging situations. As a role model, educator, and advocate, you’ll ensure our nursing team is empowered and patients receive timely, culturally safe care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring efficient and effective day to day coordination and management within PACU
  • Responsible for promoting excellence in clinical practice and professional leadership
  • Participates in business, nursing and educational planning at a strategic and service level
  • Provide expert support during emergency situations, patient deterioration, and interfacility transfers
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, planning, and professional development
  • Act as a liaison between multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders
  • Promote the values and strategies of Te Whatu Ora, including a strong commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi

About You:

  • NZ Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practicing Certificate
  • Minimum 5 years surgical nursing experience in NZ (post registration)
  • Current PDRP demonstrating senior nurse attributes
  • Relevant post graduate qualification
  • Experience leading and managing staff (preferred)
