About the Role
Are you a qualified Anaesthetic Technician, RNNA, or ODP ready to take your career to the next level? Join Level 8 theatres at Auckland City Hospital and you will be part of a great team of diverse, high performing and supportive health professionals who all have a common passion and enthusiasm to help you succeed.
You will be responsible for efficient, effective and safe patient care delivery as follows:
- Provide professional assistance to anaesthetists and works in partnership with the MDT to ensure positive patients outcomes
- Manage resources and equipment for delivering a 24/7 patients and whanau centred care
- Share knowledge and experience within the team
- Work on a 24/7 Rostering and on call duties
- Ensure timely Trakcare documentation to ensure efficient patient flow and discharges
- Actively contribute to organisational goals for eliminating health inequalities for Māori and Pasifika patients
- Reflect and demonstrate the values of Te Toka Tumai Auckland in daily practice
- Provide competent support to your team and perioperative practice students in conjunction with your educators and charge anaesthetic technician

About the Service
Level 8 Adult and Emergency operating theatres in Auckland City Hospital are one of our Operating Room departments in the Perioperative Services at Te Toka Tumai.
As Level 8 Anaesthetic Technician you will be providing a variety of complex but rewarding patient care on a 24/7 patient care delivery service for multiple specialities ranging from general surgery, urology, vascular, orthopaedics, trauma, liver and renal transplant, to HIPEC peritonectomy, interventional radiology, obstetrics, neurosurgery adult and paediatric surgical care. We will support you with a robust orientation program, relevant training, and study days.
About you
You will be a qualified anaesthesia support health professional with a relevant qualification e.g experienced Anaesthetic Technician, ODP, or RNAA with minimum two years of post-qualification experience and will meet the following:
- Currently hold or be eligible for registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand (http://www.mscouncil.org.nz/) or current APC with Nursing Council of NZ
- Be flexible and resilient
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and teamwork
- Be an excellent communicator and have high quality interactions with the MDT and staff.
- Be proactive at identifying issues, escalation and problem solving these.
- Be passionate, driven and focused on quality and excellence
- Have a proven track record for setting high ethical and professional standards
- Demonstrate an understanding of and able to apply the Treaty of Waitangi principles of Tino Rangatiratanga, Equity, Active protection, partnership, and Options for our communities
