About the Role
The Centralised Equipment Team at Waitematā District Health Board is seeking an Allied Health Therapy Assistant for an innovative and constantly evolving role. This role will be part time (16 hours per week) working Monday to Friday.
As an Allied Health Therapy assistant with the Centralised equipment team, you will work alongside therapy assistants and the lead clinician. Tasks include maintaining data in the tracking system from the time equipment is ordered to confirming its collection. This involves data entry, problem solving, decision making, and coordination of processes. Your role will include liaising with patients, families and colleagues across the organisation and equipment service provider/s.
About the Team/Service/ Location
Sitting in the Specialty Medicine and Health of Older People (SMHOP) Division the Centralised equipment team supports patients across the Waitematā District.
The Centralised Equipment Team is responsible for the tracking and retrieval of rental equipment for patients across allied health and community district nursing across the Waitematā District.

About you
As an Allied Health Therapy assistant with the Centralised equipment team you would ideally have experience working with older adults and be familiar with processes within the hospital and/or community environment. Our preferred candidate will ideally have knowledge of the use of adaptive equipment to maximise independence and safety in the community.
You must be able to demonstrate the following key attributes:
- Excellent communication skills, particularly with older people & team members over the phone and via e-mail
- Competent computer and administration skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- An adaptable and mature approach
- Good organisational and self-management skills
- Commitment to on-going learning
- Self-motivation, enthusiasm and initiative
