The role is primarily based at Waikato Hospital, with the slight chance of shifts occuring in rural hospitals and community bases. Full-time permanent position.

About the Role
- Assist registered allied health clinicians with patient interventions.
- Helping patients to regain their independence with activities of daily living following medical illness/surgery.
- Ordering of equipment such as walking aids and exercise equipment.
- Perform administrative tasks.
- Undertake group patient activities when required.
- Setting up of equipment and equipment cleaning.

Allied Health is a department of the Waikato district that provides Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech & Language Therapy, Dietetic, Audiology & New Born Hearing screening, Social Work, and Psychology services. Our Allied Health Assistants play a crucial role in supporting these allied health professionals. We are a very welcoming team and provide a supportive work environment.

To be selected for this position, you will need to demonstrate:

- Physically strong and injury-free

- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Computer skills.
- Excellent time management skills and an ability to flex and adapt depending on work demands
- Culture awareness
- A current full NZ drivers licence
- Prior experience in a healthcare setting would be beneficial
- You value doing things right, not doing it easy.
- Experience in upholding Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
