About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated, creative and resourceful person to support the Hospital and Specialist Service (HSS) Waikato, with BFHI (Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative) administration requirements.
Your work will support the BFHI accreditation process and you will be part of a team that delivers breastfeeding specialist services in the inpatient settings of Waikato Hospital and surrounding HSS facilities.
The role of the BFHI Administrator Women’s Health, will work closely with the Clinical Midwife Specialist BFHI coordinator and to ensure BFHI accreditation requirements are met and BFHI audit processes are supported.
Key responsibilities:
- Collaborative engagement with BFHI coordinator, LC team, HSS staff and stakeholders.
- Effective administrative support for BFHI coordinator and the BFHI accreditation process.
- Timely management of audit and key data deliverables, including spreadsheets.

About the Team
BFHI is a quality assurance measure that ensures that maternity services offer evidence-based, quality care to support whānau on their infant feeding journeys. In Aotearoa, the BFHI has been adapted for our unique health system, which includes a maternity care system supported by Lead Maternity Carers (LMCs), as well as commitment to Te Tiriti ō Waitangi and the Pae Ora framework.
The breastfeeding support service is a small team of Lactation consultants committed to promote, protect and support breastfeeding through the BFHI implementation.
About you
As an administrator in this service, you will need to have:
- Relevant experience and qualifications.
- Strong computer literacy and accurate typing skills, with a willingness to learn new systems.
- Proven data entry experience.
- Excellent time management skills, with the ability to stay organised and prioritise task effectively.
- Initiative and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
