About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity in our Department of Critical Care Medicine (DCCM) for a motivated clinician who is interested in furthering their leadership.

DCCM provides intensive and high dependency care for patients aged 15 and over, across all conditions, excluding heart and lung surgery. We are proud to support both national and regional services, delivered by a highly skilled, multidisciplinary team.

In partnership with the Operations Manager and Nurse Unit Manager, the SCD will manage the service to ensure implementation of Te Toka Tumai vision and strategy within the day-to-day operation of the Department. Specifically, the SCD will be responsible for the following.

  • Ensuring the clinical safety of the service
  • Actively provide clinical leadership and effective management of the service’s performance and productivity improvements
  • Safeguard high standards of care by creating an environment in which excellence in clinical care can flourish
  • Provide leadership and management of the service’s junior and senior clinical workforce fostering excellence in practice standards and professional conduct.

This is a permanent, part-time position (0.5FTE / 20 hrs) per week reporting to the Director, Adult Medical & Community (AMC).

About you

To be successful in the role you will have demonstrated leadership skills, although this may be your first time in a Service Clinical Director role.
