Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

This is a great opportunity for you to join our Staff Service Centre team at our Penrose offices in a Permanent, Full-time role as a Staff Service Centre Payroll Officer. The role will see you working within an established team contributing to the effective operation of our Staff Service Centre by providing customer focused payroll services and support, handling payroll of over 20,000 staff members across 6 organisations.

You will play a vital role in:  

  • Fortnightly payroll processing
  • Contractor payment processing
  • Run special pays
  • Responding to pay queries

Working in a fast-paced environment, we need someone with great interpersonal skills and attention to detail who can balance multiple priorities while maintaining high quality performance.

Ka kawea e koe | You will bring

  • A solid background working across the whole payroll function with a sound knowledge of NZ payroll legislation
  • Sound experience working on electronic timesheet, payroll and accounting systems
  • A good foundation of accounting and transaction processing experience
  • Substantial computer literacy with working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and emphasis on Excel
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Consistent attention to detail
  • A commitment to being a good Te Tiriti partner in all your actions. This includes an understanding of the significance of and obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi,  and the ability to apply Te Tiriti principles in a meaningful way in this role 
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
