A place where you’ll go home at the end of your shift knowing you played a very important part in the recovery of service users and feel the satisfaction of doing something that really counts?
About Us
He Puna Waiora meaning "a pool of wellness" is a 46 bed Adult Acute Inpatient Unit. The unit was been designed to provide a high level of flexibility in the use of acute beds. There is a number of sensory & comfort rooms with multiple lounges, relaxation and programme spaces for service users.
About you
We are looking for enthusiastic and caring Mental Health Care Assistants to work with service users experiencing acute mental health problems. You will be confident relating to, and dealing with people who can at times demonstrate difficult or challenging behaviours. Therefore, having good verbal communication skills, being calm under pressure and demonstrating resilience is essential. It is also important that you have enthusiasm for working within mental health, are self-motivated, energetic and have a positive attitude.
Preferred
- National Certificate in Mental Health or equivalent
- Previous experience in mental health care or care giving
- Ability to identify own stress/coping mechanisms
