Maternal Mental Health Clinician/Social Worker - Child Youth and Family Mental Health Services

  • Based at Waitākere Hospital

Are you a qualified, registered Mental Health Clinician? The Maternal Mental Health Team at Waitākere Hospital  is looking for you to join our specialist team of clinicians.

About the Role

The Maternal Mental Health Service provides a comprehensive specialist multi-disciplinary mental health service to pregnant and post-partum women who experience moderate to severe mental health-related issues during this period. Our community-based service has a well-developed continuum of care, offering a range of treatment options that include in-home support, a purpose-built mother and baby respite unit, plus access to a regional mother and baby inpatient unit should the need arise.

About You

We are seeking an experienced clinician with a good understanding of adult mental health needs who has an interest in the complexity of the perinatal period including the mother-baby relationship. Good assessment skills and engagement skills are a key requirement. You will have excellent communication skills for consultation, networking, and liaison and will perform well under pressure.

Essential

  • Registered Health Professional with current New Zealand registration and annual practicing certificate in one of the following:
    • Nursing – with scope to work in a mental health setting and minimum Level 2 – competent healthcare portfolio
    • Occupational Therapy
    • Social Work
    • Psychology
  • Full NZ driver's licence
  • Contemporary clinical practice in a mental health setting
  • Understanding of mental health perinatal issues
  • Knowledge of infant development
