Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.

About the role:

This is more than just a management role – it’s your chance to make a visible and lasting impact across our region. As Team Manager for District-Wide Services, you’ll lead a group of highly specialised clinical teams providing services that touch people’s lives at their most critical moments.

In your role as Team Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing these specialised clinical teams, ensuring the safe and effective delivery of services throughout the district. Your teams will include Maternal Mental Health, Whakatupu Ora (Infant Mental Health), the Early Psychosis Intervention Team (EPIT), Te Whitinga Mai (Youth Forensics Liaison Service), Eating Disorders Liaison Service, and the Interagency Behavioural Team (IBT).

You will apply best management practices and effective leadership strategies to support the mental health and addiction subspecialty teams. As a member of the leadership team, you will report directly to the Service Manager of District-Wide Services. This role involves collaboration across the district and region, working closely with the Service Manager, Clinical Heads, and Clinical Leads to deliver safe, high-quality clinical services and help shape future models of care.

This is a genuine opportunity to make a significant and lasting impact on the mental health and well-being of our community while contributing to a consistent and standardised approach to youth and adult services across the region.

About you:

We’re looking for a dynamic, collaborative and resilient leader who thrives in complex clinical environments. To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Proven clinical leadership in Adult and/or Child & Adolescent Mental Health
  • Experience in managing budgets and financial performance
  • A track record of leading and motivating clinical staff and multidisciplinary teams
  • Strength in business planning, service development, and change management
  • Confidence in embracing technology and using tools such as Qlik dashboards to support decision-making and performance management

If you inspire confidence and want to lead services that make a genuine difference, this role is for you.
