We are looking for an energetic, forward-thinking Tauraawhiri to work alongside our multidisciplinary teams, providing culturally responsive support to tangata whaiora Maaori and whaanau Maaori, while strengthening Maaori cultural capability across our services.

About the role

This role has a dual focus — providing Maaori cultural support to tangata whaiora and whaanau, while strengthening cultural capability across our services.

Working alongside multidisciplinary teams, you will contribute to cultural assessment, care planning and tikanga-based interventions, while supporting connections to whaanau, whakapapa, marae, kaupapa Maaori services and community networks.

You will also provide tikanga guidance and cultural support to staff and teams, contribute to cultural education and development, and support tikanga-related activities including poowhiri, whakatau, karakia, waiata, poroporoaki, Matariki and Te Wiki o te Reo Maaori.

About you

You will have:

• Strong knowledge and practical application of tikanga Maaori and Te Ao Maaori.
• Experience working with Maaori, whaanau and communities.
• An understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application in practice.
• Strong relationship-building, communication and collaboration skills.
• The ability to provide Maaori cultural and tikanga advice and guidance.
• Ngaakau maahaki, integrity, self-awareness and professionalism.
• A full New Zealand driver's licence.
• A relevant qualification in tikanga Maaori, te reo Maaori, Maaori studies, health, education, social sciences or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated experience and competency, is desirable.
• Experience in health, mental health and addictions, social services or kaupapa Maaori settings would be advantageous, along with knowledge of Maaori models of health, cultural assessment, facilitation, mentoring or supervision.
