About the Role:

Reporting to the General Manager - Women’s Health, this role is pivotal in shaping the future of maternity and women’s health services. The position leads the planning, and implementation of service development and improvement programmes that drive efficient, high-quality, and compassionate care.

As a key leader, you will guide the primary birthing strategy and contribute to achieving outstanding outcomes across several core areas:

  • Excellence in Patient Care: Foster a culture of compassion and respect, ensuring every patient experiences exceptional, person-centred care.
  • Health Equity: Lead initiatives that improve health outcomes for Māori, Pacific peoples, and communities experiencing health disparities.
  • Staff Engagement & Development: Create a supportive, collaborative environment that promotes kindness, engagement, professional growth, and job satisfaction.
  • Patient Safety & Flow: Ensure safe, effective, and seamless service delivery across all aspects of care.
  • Financial & Operational Performance: Drive efficiency, sustainability, and accountability in a resource-constrained environment.

About you:

You are an experienced leader with:

  • Leadership Experience - Minimum of 3 years’ experience managing complex healthcare operations, including responsibility for staff leadership, financial oversight, and transformational change.
  • A Track Record of Driving Innovation – Proven ability to build and sustain a culture of performance, and continuous improvement with a strong consumer focused mindset.
  • Expertise in Systems Improvement – Demonstrated success in designing and implementing sustainable processes that lift performance, improve care, and enhance service quality.
  • People Leadership – A collaborative and empowering leadership style, with experience guiding teams through change, building capability, setting clear goals, and celebrating success.
  • Operational Excellence Under Pressure – A resilient and strategic thinker, confident managing complexity, navigating risk, and making sound decisions to ensure high-quality service delivery.
